Love the adjustable brightness! Reviews Coleman Twin LED Lantern

Where do I start... Extremely bright, durable, quality product. Bought a few of these lanterns to quality for the discount ($20 off). With batteries, these Coleman Twin LED Lantern are both bulky and heavy, but not more so than a typical Coleman dual-fuel double mantle lantern. Still, compared to many other LED lanterns, these are fairly big. The heft has to do with the 8 D-cells.

Anyway, I liked this Coleman Twin LED Lantern unit so much that I purchased another. I think it is the best one of its kind available and that you will like it, too. As far as performance goes, these lanterns are great! The brightness compares to a propane/fuel type, especially from a distance. Close up, the LED lanterns appear less bright because their light is not as concentrated as a fuel type.
  • Super bright, adjustable LED lantern with two Cree LEDs
  • Up to 390 lumens of light with a rotary dimmer switch
  • Runs for 150 hours on low and 16 hours on high with eight D batteries (not included)
  • Weather-resistant construction to withstand the elements
  • Five-year limited warranty
Coleman Twin LED Lantern are rated for 150 hours on low and 8 hours on high. The lowest setting is useful only as a night light. However, the second lowest setting is already pretty bright for general use. In a week-long camping trip with lots of evening cooking and activities, the batteries held up just fine.

In the total darkness surrounding me out there, I could clearly see about 50 or 60 feet around my campsite. That was with the light at full brightness. Knowing that full brightness would eat up the batteries, I adjusted it down a bit. Still, it puts out plenty of light to see around me, even on low to medium power.

As for the warnings in other reviews about not being able to buy replacement bulbs, LED's do not burn out. In addition, they require very little energy to produce light, and you will be surprised at how long your batteries will last. We did not think that changing batteries in this Coleman Twin LED Lantern was challenging. It's a good buy. The price is very reasonable for what you get.

In general, I think these LED lanterns are now better than fuel-type ones because they are safer and easier to operate. The light level control of this particular model is also very versatile but intuitive (turn a dial to control brightness). I would not recommend these for hiking or backpacking due to their size and heft. However, they are perfect for blackout situations at home and tent camping.
