Great Emergency Light: Reviews Coleman 2000000866 Twin U-Tube Electric Lantern

Coleman 2000000866 Twin U-Tube Electric Lantern is perfect for environments where there is little availability for electricity. The first time I turned on this family-sized lantern I said "WOW!" This is a serious light! I recommend it. It's worth the money.

It takes 8 D batteries and gains some weight after adding the batteries, nothing that a child 5 and up can't carrry. The lantern has a low, high and off setting...simple to use...there is not much difference with the low light and the high light.
  • Rugged family-size battery-powered lantern for outdoor use
  • 13-watt fluorescent twin U-tube bulb delivers bright white light
  • Heavy-duty thermoplastic and rubber housing is weather-resistant
  • Runs for 28 hours (low) or 18 hours (high) on 8 D batteries (not included)
  • Cool touch bulb design; measures 9 inches in diameter and 15.25 inches tall
I tried it in a dark closet and could recognize the "high" light setting being different. Overall, its about 13" long and 20" around the largest part (base). These things are great!.they give plenty of light and last for a very very long time on one set of batteries, and the good part is that they use the cheaper large D type batteries.

I like the Coleman 2000000866 Twin U-Tube Electric Lantern battery type because you don't have any fire and there are no mantles to break. It is better than rechargable because you can replace batteries immediately. However this is not as bright as a propane lantern.

The large lamp gives good whole room light and the smaller ones are very light for each person to carry from room to room as needed. This larger family one is a bit heavier due to it useing 8 D batteries. This Coleman 2000000866 Twin U-Tube Electric Lantern product earned 118 customer reviews and 88% are satisfied (as 13/01/2014).
